Operation Updates - 10/3/07 - 1:00 PM

First arrival - a little scared and nervous

I got a lot more comfortable being here once they let me drive a cozy coupe!

The happy juice made me really happy!

First pic after we got him...

Ok, we have him with us now in room 687. He's resting in his momma's arms thanks to some Demoral but has obviously not been very happy since coming back to us from his 3 for 1 blue plate special. His first communication to us was the sign language for drink. He was really thirsty! The doctors told us that all three procedures went well and were successful, thank you Lord!

We have to be very careful to make sure he does not put his hands in his mouth and he has to be on soft foods for about 30 days.

We had one bit of surprising news this morning. The doctor said that he did not have any scar tissue which indicates that his cleft lip had never been repaired. Hello?!?! This is contrary to everything we've been led to believe since the first time we found out about him. We were told that his cleft lip had been repaired but that may have been a presumption on the part of the orphanage because it looked repaired. It changes a lot of our presumptions about his abandonment and his history before we got him. So this means he never had a full cleft lip but just a partial and that his lip repair will be easier in the future. Dr. Grant said we could have this done in 2-3 months depending on how he does with all of this.

Thanks for your prayers and continue to pray for his recovery.

Yeah...praise the Lord that everything went well. Now the hard part starts...trying to keep Quan from putting his hands in his mouth. We'll be praying for a speedy recovery for both Kimmie and Quan. Hope GramMart had an uneventful day! I thought of her often as we drove by the house. Love to all!

Laine,

I'm so glad Quan's surgeries went well (and Kimmie's surgery too). We have been praying for both of them...even Olivia has remembered to pray for them at bedtime.

It's funny...for quite a while now, Olivia has been praying for Colby and Clay. She always says, "I want to pray for my new friends, Ms. Laine's boys, Colby and Clay."

If you need anything at all, please let us know.

Love,
Jan

Thanks for the updates, both laine and Rob! Laine you look so calm and little Quan so peacefull. I love love this boys smile! I bet he will feel so much better once he has completely healed. I wished I could come and give you all a big HUG! Sending them from Clalifornia, thats the best I can do but will be lifting this boy up in prayer! HE is so darn cute always but he is killing me, all happy in the hospital!
Hugs
Cathy

I am so glad that everything went well. Norah Kate loved the picture of Quan in the coupe. She said Quan is in my car!
When you get home go to You Tube and watch William Tell Overture for Moms. It is great! I have made my children watch it several times. I even sent it off to the one at college in case he misses me. Speaking of Zachary, he cracked his right fibula Tuesday at football practice. He is out of the game for 2-3 weeks and is very depressed about it.
Love ya bunches, Susan
