Happy New Year! And I have loved reading about all your Christmas adventures, bloggy friends!

A great day on the beach on New Year's Eve. The weather was beautiful!

Just so you know, it's not all warm sand and sunshine for some people!!!!!!!

Spending time with friends is always so much fun! We look forward every year to New Year's at the beach with the Clarks and my sister's family, Darrel, Lyn & Claire. K & Q really loved getting to spend 4 nights with Jacey Grace!

We have a picture of Danay and Katie Lyn just like this, except they are about 3 years old. Now they are 11! Sweet girls and best friends!

A beautiful sunset. Apparently when the sun went down, it took all the warm weather with it!

Matching outfits is a must for the women on New Year's Eve! Here we are, ready to ring in 2008! Shalita, sister Lyn, and Laine

All the children put on a band performance that was quite...well...um....remarkable. They even packed costumes for the New Year's Eve performance.

Ready for 2008 as a family of....eight? :)

Happy New Year, sista!

It's New Year's Day! Perfect chilly weather for a Polar Bear Dip! Anybody remember last year? We met a family who adopted 3 boys...you can read about last year's "Dip" here. and here. Well, we saw the same family again this year! Only this time we were able to introduce them to Kimmie and Quan!

We are all ready in our matching suits...fashion is a must on the beach, ya know!

And we did it! Kimmie, Quan and even baby Ella Kate!!!!!!! Click on the pic so you can see the festive skim boards. It was SO COLD, but I wouldn't want to begin a new year any other way!!!!!

We have just finished reading a most wonderful book together. It is called "Caddie Woodlawn", based on the true adventures of the author's grandmother when she was 11 years old. My children loved this book and often begged me to "read just one more chapter, mama!" Here is a quote from the last chapter, which I think is so true for all of us!

"What a lot has happened since last year...How far I've come! I'm the same girl and yet not the same. I wonder if it's always like that? Folks keep growing from one person into another all their lives, and life is just a lot of everyday adventures. Well, whatever life is, I like it."

That really sums it up, doesn't it? ;)

What a great way to start off the new year (I love traditions). Our tradition is to head to the mountains for the new year. Of course, I love all those beautiful matching outfits. I'm so glad yall had a wonderful time. I wish your family a blessed and wonderful 2008. Cant wait for what is holds for the Green Family. We read Caddie Woodlawn when I used Sonlight Curriculum. Great book!

You are so fortunate to be able to go to the beach! I want to do Thanksgiving at the beach one year. I think it would be awesome. New Year's Eve is probably the best, though!

I just updated my blog with some news about Sarah...see what has happened with her!

Hi Laine,

So I'll answer your question that you posted on our blog....we really don't have any idea what we will name our next little one. We want to wait and see what his/her Chinese name is. But I also have a question for YOU??? So what do you mean by "ready for 2008 as a family of...8" with a question mark after it? What exactly does that question mark mean ? :) Are you possibly considering doing something this year that we would all be interested in knowing ???? Or am I just wishful thinking???? Hmmmm...

What great pics. Loved the matching swimwear, but my question is, where are the mommies matching suits as well. Wouldn't that be a sight. Glad you all had so much fun. Will the children do an encore performance of their New Year's Eve gig? Would love to see it. Missed you and know that 2008 has something great Ethru life with all of you. Ethel

Thanks for the pics from Christmas and New Year's. I love the matching Mommy outfits - Sister Lyn, Sister Shalita, and Sister Laine - what fun! You must have thrown off the hoods of your habits in honor of New Year's! I'm sure the concert originated by the Polar Bear Bunch was fabulous. I'm so grateful for Rob, Darrel, and Bobby - behind the scenes - but supporting their wives and families' efforts to have a great time and make wonderful memories!
From the teacher: If you liked Caddie Woodlawn, try Miss Hickory. Totally different, but equally wonderful on a different genre. Looking forward to a GR8 2008!
Love to all! Aunt Laura Pearl

What wonderful pictures! I don't know how you do it with six young kids at home, but you seem to do it very well. My boys were so spread out that I never experienced the action-packedness and constant excitement of kids close together until this second round for our family. You all look like you have such a good time together. Happy new year!

Oh, the beach... makes me covet every time you post beach pics ;-)))
Looks like you had a ton of fun, and yes, you ARE the matching outfits queen. I have to say, though, you can pick them out easily at the beach, and that's a must with that many kids, isnt' it ?!
Wishing you a very blessed, and special 2008
Barb

Hey Erica!

I guess that question mark simply means I have learned NEVER to say I'm never having any more children!
No, we're not doing anything interesting...just living a calm, quiet life with our SIX children...HAHAHAHA!

Love you!
Laine

Laine,

Thanks for answering my question - I just had to ask! I hope you have a WONDERFUL year with your 6 children! And I hope sometime this year we can get together again so that I can meet Kimmie and Quan!

Love,

Erica

I was gonna ask about where the Gingerbread House was...Laine it was SO EASY! I think they've improved them since you last made one! Poor kiddos...

Also, my favorite part about your beach pictures is Shalita and Your ULTRA CURLY HAIR!

VERY GOOD PICTURES! Sounds fun! Sorry I couldn't make it again this year! HA!
