Candace Triple Scoop with Whipped Cream and a Cherry on top!

Look at her little sad eyes...Dr. Chambers at the adoption clinic had a pediatric dermatologist look at that birthmark and she feels sure it's not melanoma. We had a scare for about a week about that. I know they can't tell much from pictures, but the dr. felt pretty confident as that is what she deals with exclusively. Praise God! We will most likely work on getting it lasered.
Oh, and see this ear? They tried to do surgery to open it up, but her paperwork said "It wasn't successful." Poor baby. She needs Children's Hospital!
Look at her sweet little closed ear. But, there is a pretty ear lobe and we can still get her ears pierced! ;) (That is one of the first things Carlie said when she saw her new sister's picture for the first time!)
Candace is not in this picture but this is a typical foster home in LePing. OH my goodness. Yall don't even know where our girl is from! B/c I couldn't share on a public site. Okay, she is in LePing orphanage (actually foster care) in Jiangxi province. And her Chinese name is Le Xiao Hao. Pronounced Lu Show (like in shower) How. Kimmie and Quan will NOT call her Candace or Candie. They only call her Xiao Hao. Isn't that wild? Anyway, check out the chicken in the picture. I am on a LePing adoption yahoo group and from the pics of people who have adopted from there, it looks VERY rural. LOTS more rural than Wuhan. I'm wondering if chickens are against my neighborhood covenants....;)

So, I have contacted this wonderful service to send Candie a care package. The name is Ladybugs 'n Love. They will also try to contact the orphanage to get updated pics and measurements. Angela, the sweet lady in China who takes care of all these details, emailed me that she is waiting to hear back from Candie's orphanage. I am hoping for something...anything! Angela said I could ask 10 questions to the orphanage, and one of them I wanted to know is how do her foster parents communicate with her. I also asked if she understood we are adopting her and if so, how does she feel about it.

Oh, and did I mention we are DTC as of June 12th? YEP! ;)
I know I'm FILLING your ear with LOTS of scoop. Sorry! It's just been bottled up and now that I feel safe sharing, well, it's comin' at ya! ;)
We don't know who is traveling yet. We REALLY need your prayers about that! Please pray that God will show us clearly who should go, and that we will have a peace about it. Right now we just don't know when we'll travel, and who will go! But, guess what? GOD KNOWS! And in His timing, He will reveal that to us!
IN GOD WE TRUST, right Aunt Pearl? ;)

SHe is BEAUTIFUL! I can see earrings on those little ear lobes. I know you are relieved to hear that the dr doesn't think that was melonoma. I am so excited for your family. I am also excited to hear how God will reveal which Ferrill's will go back to China.
So glad to see you all yesterday.

Oh Laine,

She has such a beautiful mouth.....and sweet cheeks......she's such a pretty girl.

I can't believe you are already DTC. And I am glad you took your blog private. I never even saw that "anonymous" comment and I can't believe someone would be so brazen to write such a thing and then remain anonymous.

Yay for Barney Fife!

She is so beautiful!! A scoop of sweetness for sure! Ryan had a similiar spot on his scalp and the surgeon removed it during his palate surgery. His was a nevus. They have a 6% chance of becoming cancerous, very small percentage, but his doctor removed it because it was in his hair and hard to see change. Anyhow, she is a sweetie for sure!!

She is precious and I can't wait to see her home!!

Tell KL I saw her friend today at sumatanga. She was so sweet and introduced herself to me, which was great since I didn't know who she was. They were at the pool when I met her and she said (and looked like) she was having a good time.

She is absolutely beautiful!!! Oh, how I remember Linzhi's sad cut right through me. She needs her mama, baba and siblings!! What a day that will be when we get to see her in your arms.

Thank you for your sweet comments about our day at Shriner's. We give all the glory to the Lord!!

oh Laine she is a precious child of the Most High God. She is just going to fit in with the Ferrill's like the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae!;)
I can't wait to see those beautiful ears pierced and see the plan of God unfold step by step. She will come alive and learn more each day and I look so forward to seeing her thrive in a home filled with love and most importantly JESUS.
I understand about the privacy thing. I never use our last name and never post what zoo we are at or what park for privacy reasons. Right now I feel God uses my blog to help inspire people, I have received so many private emails from others wanting to know how to begin to adopt etc... but I too know, He will show me when that window of time is over and its time to go private as well.

You're so right about those sad little eyes, and I just know that within a very short time, you'll see life and excitement in them. It always amazes me how very ALIVE these children become once they have someone of their very own to love them. She is really a very pretty little girl, and I can't wait to see her as part of your family.

I read your post about making the blog private and then went and read the comments you mentioned. It is really kind of scary and makes me wonder if this is the direction I should head. I don't have nearly the traffic that your blog has, but even still, there was one comment several months ago that was very odd and made me uneasy. I was especially bothered when I saw the exact comment by the same person on another adoptive family's blog...?

I have tears right now from staring at her pictures. Sweet, precious child.
Beautiful little girl.
**happy sigh**

She is indeed soooooo pretty! I could just imagine those sad eyes blooming into bright sparkling ones once she is home with her loving family. And yes, she needs Children's Hospital and there is no doubt that she will be made if she weren't already.

I am thrilled that you are DTC and the countdown has begun! Woohooo!!!

Hugs to you and again thank you for allowing me to journey with you as another one of God's little masterpieces makes her way home.

Much love...

1)What is DTC?
2)Thank you for including me!
3)Can Candace hear?
4)Robby had something similar on his neck since birth and it grew as he grew. We had it removed last yr by a plastic surgeon, they called it a nevus(sp). It could turn into something bad later in life is what the doctor told us, so as prevention we had it removed.

Laine! I am glad to read your posting about why you chose to go private, but then I backed up and read those nasty anonymous messages that I had somehow missed and geezLouize, how sad some people are. Let's pray for her! Candace IS beautiful but her eyes are sad... but we know they won't be that way for long. I don't think somebody could be sad in your house EVER. Much love from Tennessee!!

Way to go Kimmie and Quan! Her name must be officially Candace Le Xiao Hao Ferrill - aka Candie Lou! I don't know what DTC is, but I hope it means she's coming home to her forever family soon. I can't wait to see her smiling eyes after she's "Ferrillized". Best wishes and God's Guidance on who goes to China to pick her up. I know you wish everyone could go ( I do) but TMMO keeps getting in my way of what I want. Love to you all, and yes indeed, IN GOD WE TRUST!

wareaglefam said...

I, too, was wondering what DTC meant?! We are thrilled that you guys are one step closer to bringing her home. God will show you the way when deciding who will go to China. Just know that we are VERY willing to keep anyone that has to stay home! We love you guys so much!

She is so beautiful and precious! I am so excited for you guys and thankful for what the Lord is doing.

I think you were very wise to go private. The protection of our families should be top priority.

Can't wait to hear more!

Love in Christ,
Rebekah H.

Oh she is sooooo beautiful!!! I just can't wait to meet this new Ferrill in person! Do you remember in Guangzhou when we saw them taking chickens in the back door of that restaurant? I wish I could have taken a picture of your facial expression, Laine. Anyways, I'm sure that they wont mind chickens in your neighborhood! I'm praying for you guys and for Candie Lou!

Hey Amy! I will answer your question about what DTC is, and also my sis Laura (Aunt Pearl) and Tracey (wareaglefam):
Date To China--that is the date that our paperwork went to the adoption authorities in China. Basically that means our side of the paperwork is mostly done and now we wait on them to review it, give us final approval and send the L.O.A. (Letter of Acceptance--a form that we sign stating we definitely want Candace!) Okay, ya know what? I think I need to do a blog post to finish answering this question and the one about Candace's hearing issues...
Thanks for asking these questions, Amy as I'm sure there are others who have the same thoughts! Why do I assume that everybody knows the Chinese adoption acronyms? ;)
And thank yall for your sweet sweet sweet comments! THAT is why I love you all so much! ;) You all have hearts of gold!

Laine oh Laine, she is an absolute doll. I could just smooch her cheeks. She doesent even realize that God has HIS hand on her life. She will understand very soon. Wow, can I cry now?

OK, I'm back.

Well, I am so glad that you feel you can share more with us now. I felt the same way when I took my blog private. I was amazed at how many people were viewing Sophie's blog (and still do, but I took almost all photos off of it), It was a ministry then...but then like you, I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to go private and really open up to my friends and family on my new blog.

SO, now you can let loose. No wackos out here!

Oh you guys she is so beautiful. After just traveling to Jiangxi and seeing these rural areas my heart is overjoyed that you will get to bring her home with you in a short time! It is a heartwrenching experience in that area. Zoey's orphanage was nice, but the areas we drove through to get there were so poor and sad. Please let us know if you need anything in this waiting time. If you have a yard sale, I got plenty for you!!!!!! WE love you guys.

WOW! She is really a sweet little soul, I cannot wait for her to have your family to put joy in her heart! What a blessing you will be for her. She is a gem, oh I can see you will be blessed beyond measure as well.

And you are DTC, you go girl you have the hang of this. I truly beleive GOds timing, I wish we were on same time frame is all.

Our miss Olivia was from Feng Cheng Jiangxi. Very, very rural and very, very poor. You will love Nanchang if thats where your headed, it is a totally different side of China. I will let you know of some great places to eat, we had an awesome rep there.

This girl is going to love to get all girly I can tell. The birthmark is a non issue especially with our technology today.

Blessings to you Ferrills

I don't know of anything else I can say that hasn't already been said by all your other blogging buddies, Candie Lou is absolutely beautiful and those sad eyes won't be sad for long, Can't wait to welcome her with open arms. You know that whatever you need, you have so many friends that you can depend on. All you have do to is tell us what you need, Glad you went private, it's sad that there are so many sick people in this world. Know that we all love and respect you and Rob and your family and can see and feel the love that you have for ALL your children, whether biological or adopted, they are FERRILLs. Ethel

She's a doll baby!!! I'm so glad to finally learn more about your girl and I can't wait to see her amidst your clan, calling them her own.

I'm also really sorry you had to be subjected to the ANON comment from the crazy women (CRAZY!!). That's pretty scary and it does certainly make you second-guess sharing your life with so many.

I've often thought about making our blog private, but every time I do, I get an email from someone who says Oakley's inspired them to consider SN. I'm so torn, but I know that protecting my children is most important, so we'll probably go that route sooner than later.

Blessings to you and your sweet girl waiting for you to come scoop her up!

Sherri said...

This is kind of funny.....but as I read through all your comments, everyone refers to ANON as "she". When I read it, I automatically assumed ANON was a "he". I guess because I pictured a man being more crabby about those issues.....

And YES! I want to hear MORE about Candie's hearing.
