Breathe. Deep.

We are leaving for China in 12 days!

Can you see my eyes? They look like that deer I almost hit last night that crossed in front of my car! My good friend Page said it best: "I'm praying for you Laine - maybe the deer incidents was a message from God...to say...don't act like a "Deer in Headlights" keep moving - don't stop and panic! He's in control and I'm definitely praying that you NOT PANIC...I will panic for you if you want me to carry that burden" What a great friend to panic for me! ;)

Please as the Lord reminds you, please please pray for Candace. She is about to experience a deep loss. How her heart will hurt. Please pray for God to heal her broken heart, and give her a peace that passes all understanding. Remember her foster mother too. I know you will.

For months we have prayed that God would prepare Candace for this transition into our family. We have prayed He would prepare us too. In the last few weeks He has been preparing us, and it's not like He's preparing us for a vacation folks, I must tell ya. Every little thing He brings to us seems to be preparing us for a storm... I'm not being pessimistic. I'm just saying that we have read more Bible verses, devotions, friends stories who have adopted older children, heard sermons, etc. and they all point to trouble, storms, and fellowship in Christs sufferings. I know He is equipping us, and I pray we are ready!

If the Lord lays on your heart a verse for us, will you please either email us or leave it in the comments? We are documenting all the ways God is speaking to us, and are taking these stories, words, verses to China with us, and would love to print out verses to hang around us in our hotel room. Thank you SO much. We know nothing can encourage nor sustain like God's Word can!

And to all my bloggy friends, I am DYING to sit down and catch up on all your posts. So don't give up on me! You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I love you all!!!!!!!

Oh, and we will have Joe and Jennifer at myadoptionwebsite.com do our travel site again, just like last time. It will be password protected, so as soon as it is up and running we will put that information here for you to journey to China with us! We need you! I hate to sound needy, but I need yall again!!!!!! Your comments while we were in China were like fresh air to me and Rob. God really used you all to encourage us...words just cannot express what it was like to be able to hear from yall. I do thank God for each of you. You are gifts to our family.

More to come...must. breathe. deep.

I pray for safe journey and I know that your four older kiddos will be well taken care of. Can't wait to see Candace. Love you all so much, Ethel

I'm SO glad I checked your site before I went to bed. Even though you received your TA, I guess I didn't comprehend how quickly things would move. YEAH!!! I have a wonderful verse for you, but I'll have to send it in the morning. Bob is in bed, and I'm typing on the computer in our bedroom, so I don't think he would appreciate it if I turned on the lights :) !!

You can bet that I'll keep you in my prayers, and I'll have the girls join in too.

I know it's not a Bible verse, but it's gotten me through some stuff and hopefully it'll help y'all some, too! I was awake around 3 this morning with Candace and her foster family on my mind, and actually said a prayer for all of them and y'all, too.
Kimmie and Quan will help her transition, I feel sure of it. I think y'all are doing the right thing (and don't we know that the right thing is rarely the easy thing!).
I love y'all, Laine!

Still reeling in the excitement over here!!!!!!!!!! I have not been going about my day and come across something and think, that might be a good thing for Laine to take to China. The kid will like that for the plane.. or Candace would think that was cool. I have the Ferrills on the brain! I am so stinkin' excited!!!!!! I wish I could go with you! ;)

You know I will be praying and cheering you on. And it makes my heart smile so BIG when I think about all the friends you have here who will be doing the same. WE got your back girl!

Lots of Hugs and Lots of Love!

Okay - it's morning, Bob is out of bed, and I can finally turn on the lights and pass on to you the verse I mentioned last night. Let me tell you that during the last few days before Bob went to get Joanna, I suddenly got cold feet and wondered what in the world we were doing. I came across this verse on someone else's blog, and it was one of those "God moments." I knew God was speaking to me and my situation.

"But the righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved." -Hebrews 10:38, 39

I hope it is a blessing to you as much as it was to me! I love you!

Rhonda Bryant said...

WOW!! Laine, how exciting!!!

"God doesn't call the equipped. He equips those that answer the call." I saw this quote and wanted to share it!

I know God is going to equip you and Rob with everything you need for this journey to Candace. We are praying for her, her foster mom, and for your family as you all prepare for these exciting days ahead! How wonderful she will be here for the holidays!!

These are two of my favorites. Hope they help. You and your family are always in our prayers.

We love you!

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Laine I cannot believe ya'll leave in 12 days. You seemed to holding it together pretty good last night at dance. I thought of this verse that Annabelle learned in AWANA:

Deut. 31:6
Be stong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.

Everything is in His perfect plan. We will pray for you guys and also Candace that the transition is a smooth as possible. We will also pray for her sweet foster mom who's heart will also be sad for losing her.
Like Rhonda said God will equip you guys with everything you need and He is in total control.

Oh my Laine, you are headed to get your girl!

Breathe deep, and look up . . .

"You will keep him in perfect peace whose whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
Isaiah 26:3

And from the Message~

"People with their minds set on You, You keep completely whole,
steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don't quit."

As your friend said, "Keep moving-don't stop and panic . . . and God promises to you keep completely whole, steady on your feet, because you keep at it and don't quit!

May God keep you in perfect peace in the coming days. May He give you clear thinking, and His own time management skills. May He put all of the details into place.

And . . .

Father, Please, now more than ever, we ask that you hold sweet Candace closely under Your Wing. Father as she transitions from one family to another please shield her heart. Let her somehow understand that her foster family will always be a part of her heart, as she gains so much more. May Candace know you Lord, and may she sing Your praises surrouned by those who love her, and more importantly surround by those who love You!

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Haven't had time to comment, but have been following along. Just wanted to say that the girl's new room is beautiful. Perfectly planned out by God, put together by mama (and daughters), and absolutely fitting for the daughters of the Most High King!
Like everyone else, I can't wait to see sweet Candace in her bed!

Hugs from Texas, and thanks for your prayers for our little bird. Every day gets better!

James 1:17 (NIV)

I'll be praying for you!!

Laine and Rob,

What a wonderful blessing! God's timing is perfect. And so are His ways! Below is one of my favorite passages of Scripture:

"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, " (2 Peter 1:2-4b)

Looking forward to hearing your testimonies of God's grace and peace and of His divine power!

In Christ,
Rebekah H.

Hi Laine,

How wonderful! I can't wait to follow your journey to China!! The verse that God gave me on the morning of our adoption, that now I'll pass along to you, was Isaiah 30:15, "In returning to Me and resting in Me, you shall be saved, in quietness and trust shall be your strength."

Rest in His wisdom, His strength, His provision, the Shelter of His Wings and you will have all that you need for whatever the future holds.

Remember, above all, nothing will be a surprise to Him...He has known your daughter's name for all eternity and He hand-picked your family just for her!

Praying for you!
Sharla, your bloggy, CBS friend

Laine, I am in tears with you. I am so happy for you. We will be praying daily for you & your sweet family. When I think of you leaving for China...I remember how very precious the experience is...this saying comes to mind. 12 days?!! Have I been out of the loop for that long? I sucked in a huge breath when I read that!!! oh my, I am so excited to be on this journey with you in prayer and thoughts!! I will really be glued to the computer in 12 days and counting!!!! My cousin, and very close friend, adopted 3 older boys from Ethiopia last year. It has not been easy as I am sure you have heard from your friends, but God will provide for every need you have at each moment you need each one. There were days when she said it was one moment at the time for them. (in this case the Mom was dying of aids and so she set up the adoption plan, which I guess holds different emotions as well). But, they knew that there was no turning back, no sending them back and nothing would change that fact that these boys were theirs for life. No matter how hard the boys tried their love and somedays they were not liked very much. I am reminded of something that has come up for me several times recently that with God ALL things are possible!This is a journey that can only strengthen your walk with the Lord and I pray introduce Candace to the greatest love she could ever ask for...Jesus Christ! May God be HUGELY glorified in your lives!!!

Tammy said...

12 days!! PTL! How awesome!

We heard many horror stories before we adopted Madi. Today my DH said, "what if the next one isn't so easy." My reply, "it doesn't matter". When we adopt again, it will be the child God wants us to have. He will give us the strength and love even if she does have a tough adjusting (my heart is already being prepared for that, too).

He called you. He will equip you.

Hugs and prayers,

Aaron and Erica said...

I get a few different short devotionals delivered to my email each day and I thought of you when I read this...

Our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name.
--PSALMS 33:21

TAKE anxious care for nought,
To God your wants make known;
And soar on wings of heavenly thought
Toward His eternal throne;
So, though our path is steep,
And many a tempest lowers,
Shall His own peace our spirits keep,
And Christ's dear love be ours.
