Menus this week

So I won't forget...

Monday Katie Lyn cooked Porcupine Balls (yumminess), green peas & garlic bread
Tuesday Colby cooked beef tips with rice, green beans, and his special recipe fruit salad (more yumminess...recipe: 1 can peach pie filling, 1 lg. tub frozen sugared strawberries, 2 cans mandarin oranges--mix together and add sliced bananas right before serving. I'm not a fruit salad eater, but this stuff is as good as chocolate to me.)
Wednesday Clay learned how to grill hot dogs and make macaroni and cheese and slice strawberries. extra yummy.
Thursday Carlie made ham, party potatoes, baked beans, & Sister Schubert's yummy yeast rolls. For dessert she made peanut butter balls. Extreme yumminess.

wow, summer is good.

Do you hire them out? You could start your own restaurant....

You know...you are just SO lazy! LOL

not! j/k any mom knows it's far more trouble to let kids do stuff than to just do it yourself! Kudos to you for teaching them how to cook--believe me, it pays off huge!

My other comment is...when would you like us to come for dinner? Ya know, it's just as easy to cook for 14 as it is for 9!

What time is dinner at your house? I would come for one of your kids' dinners, but since i don't really want to single any one child out, um..we'll be over every night next week! :-) Seems like the only fair thing to me.

Laine, I haven't read blogs in sooo long, and catching up on yours was a long process. I'm still laughing/crying over your episode of "34!!" You poor things! This will be one of those stories your kids will talk about when they are grown and reminising (sp?). The bathing beauty "Candie" is awfully cute too. Did anyone ever tell you that you have cute kids?!

As for the meals, I am so jealous. I need to spend the time teaching my girls, but I am so afraid of the clean-up afterwards, that I just haven't. I even found the Paula Dean children's cookbook you mentioned, looked through it, and almost bought it, but that yucky clean-up kept haunting me. ~sigh~

I hope you're having a really good summer - it sure sounds like you are!

Yes, summer is good! We've tried the menu thing. It lasted until Philip wanted to fry fish, hushpuppies, and french fries - what a mess! STILL trying to de-grease!

totally awesome! By the way, I think you could write a book...just with the 34 hrs thing. I don't think we could have pulled it off as gracefully as your troop did.
