When we received Quan's referral in December, 2006, he had just turned two years old. We knew from this mischievous face that we were in for a ride! Our prayer was that we would be able to travel before he turned three. That prayer was answered!
We celebrated Quan's third birthday together and then shortly after had Christmas as a family of 8. I copied this picture above from an old blog post with the caption, "He's so cute, but he's SO THREE!" :) And THREE he was.
And then I blinked.
And yesterday we celebrated Quan turning SIX.
When did he stop being a toddler and change to a school-age child? Could somebody please tell me why children just seem to grow up OVERNIGHT?
Little Quan...you make us laugh so hard we either bust a button on our britches or pee in our pants. You take life so seriously at times, and at other times you haven't a care in the world. You are ALL BOY. You really are twelve years old, just trapped in a six year old's body. :)
You love guns, trucks, police cars, guns, army men, guns....did I mention guns? You say you want to be a police man or a chef when you grow up. You certainly do love to help me and daddy cook. You catch on to things really quick. Even though you wiggle and I think you're not listening to a thing I'm saying, you really are listening well. You just wiggle and listen at the same time. :) You always ask how Kevin is doing if he's been sick, or any other of your siblings for that matter. You say the sweetest prayers for the orphans of China. We are so so so so blessed that almost four years ago, sitting in a Starbucks, sweet Karla slid a file folder containing your picture across the table to us and said "I have a match for you." Yes, she did. The PERFECT match! Thank you Lord for our Quan-boy! We love you and Happy Birthday!
