Long Time No Blog!

What is my world coming to?  Long time, no blog?  Did I really just title this post that?  HELP ME!  :)

I could talk about lots of things.  I mean LOTS.  Things ranging from potty training to soldier training....but right now?  I'd rather get on the ROCKATHON train!!!!!

Here's the scoop!

What:  Rockathon for New Day South Foster Home
When:  Friday, Nov. 16, 2012
Where:  Agape Baptist Church  Pinson, AL
Time:  6:00-10:00

New Day South Foster Home is a place that is very near and dear to our hearts.
It all started back in 2009 when we were in the process of adopting our son Kevin from New Day Foster Home in Beijing, China.  We connected with a fellow Alabamian whose family lives and works at New Day.  Through email and skype, we became "family" with the Bush family.  Doug & Janice Bush shared with us their dream to expand New Day to southern China.  We prayed as they took steps toward this big leap of faith.  We, along with amazing friends who helped us, also held the first Rockathon: A fundraiser to help furnish the new foster home!  Volunteers got sponsors to sponsor a dollar amount per minute of rocking (15 minute max--we didn't want anyone getting "chair"sick!  :) , and we rocked the night away, eating soup & chili, and raising over $3,000.00 for New Day South!  That bought a lot of rocking chairs to rock those sweet babies!  :)  And it bought a lot of other furniture and start-up costs as well!  Praise the Lord!

In 2010, the Lord allowed us to have the 2nd annual Rockathon.  Once again, rockers got their sponsors, and we rocked the night away!  We also added something new that year:  a bake sale during the Rockathon!  YUMMY!   That year the Lord brought double the amount of the 2009 Rockathon!   The funds went toward the day to day costs of running the growing foster home, such as paying nannies, buying formula, doctor visits, etc.

In 2011, we were actually IN CHINA during the time we would have held a Rockathon, so we dearly missed planning this special evening.....but now, after two years....and after months and months of prayer....

2012...WE ARE BACK IN ACTION!!!!  THE ROCKATHON IS HAPPENING!!!!!  And this time is very exciting!  Because New Day South is growing growing growing!  They now have ELEVEN sweet children!  (Make that TWELVE!)  Their desire is to be able to hire even more nannies and rent another apartment to make room for more children!  There is definitely a great need in southern China for a place for special needs children to be able to go and have the love and care and medical help that New Day South provides.  We can help!  Right here in Alabama!

Would you pray about being involved this year?  Here are some areas of service:

PRAY....can you please pray for this night?  That God would be glorified above all.  That only who HE desires will rock, donate, attend, etc.   That He will bring in the funds He knows New Day South will need!  And pray for the sweet orphans at can go here to take a peek at their sweet faces!

ROCK...would you like to rock for 15 minutes?  All you have to do to be a rocker is 1)pray :)  2)get the word out about what you are doing and why you are doing it (I can give you more info to share!)....and then 3) get friends/family/countrymen to sponsor you!  and last 4)come rock on November 16!!!

SPONSOR....maybe you would like to sponsor a rocker?  I can give you some names of rockers....I've got TEN right here in my house.  :)

BAKE.....we will have the bake sale again to bring in additional funds.  Can you bake a goodie for us to sell?

ATTEND....just come on and have some fun with us!

We are asking all who attend, whether you are rocking or not, to please bring a crockpot of soup/chili for your family with some to share!   And for dessert....we can buy the goodies at the bake sale!  ;)

I am taking t-shirt orders now!  Cost is $10.00 so let me know if you are interested!

Share with others what we are doing....they might want the opportunity to be involved!  Blog about it, facebook it (I don't do facebook so is that the right terminology?) or tweet it (I don't tweet but that sure is fun to say!)...

Remember that we are doing all for the glory of God!  We went to a reunion for our adoption agency last weekend, and the director said something I want to remember:  "We do not seek the fatherless, we seek the Father."  May we always keep that first in our minds as we serve Him.  We do not serve a cause.  We serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!!!!

Love you all,

God bless!
